Astoria Artshow - Street Vendors

Mitchell Anderson and Marianne Mueller explore the market in the physical, semantic and contextual sense. The two series of works respond to the idea of offer and demand in daily life, as opposed to that at an art fair, or generally the context of the art market. Marianne Mueller's series was made in relation to the street vendor situations seen in Belgrade, translated into the visual language of contemporary art: fabrics that play between the decorative and the mundane. Mitchell Anderson shows the works he displaces from their original contexts, in the ongoing series where objects re-gain their sculptural value once seen outside the place where they were originally found.
